About this camera
Introduced in 2009, the Nikon D5000 is an entry-level DSLR built around a DX-format (APS-C) sensor. Lenses fit the Nikon F-mount, and the camera was the first Nikon DSLR with a vari-angle screen, with a 12.3MP sensor. Within Nikon's lineup it targets newcomers, and as a 2009-era design it is now mostly a used-market option.
